Compliance

When it comes to recruiting technical roles to support Norwegian energy projects, we have a strong track record of compliance.

A track record of compliance in Norway

Having managed international recruitment overseas for decades, we know that each country’s legislation brings its own set of challenges – and Norway is no exception.

That’s why we have established strong relationships with our in-country partner, who we work with to ensure we stay up-to-date with upcoming changes in legislation, whilst always meeting the precise requirements of The Norwegian Tax Administration.

For our clients, this means they can focus on managing their projects, knowing that the payroll and taxation of their workers is taken care of.

In-country payroll and taxation expertise

We understand how payroll and tax works in Norway and are proud to maintain a fully compliant solution for our clients and workers. From managing occupational pension contributions, to processing holiday entitlement and ensuring that every krone is correct on payslips and salary payments.

“When it comes to compliance, we’ve supported global engineering companies to mobilise workers internationally for decades – including working closely with our in-country Norwegian payroll and taxation partner to ensure all legislation is met.”

Will Fossey, NRL International Development Director

Managing a project workforce compliantly

Here at NRL we manage thousands of workers each week, which means we’re well-versed in all the necessary compliance to ensure all employment law is followed. This includes issuing Norwegian employment contracts that cover all the legal requirements, compliantly managing holiday pay and annual leave entitlement and adhering to legal notice periods – whilst ensuring we treat everyone with care and compassion.

Our global mobilisation services

We’ve been called on by global engineering companies to help them mobilise workers overseas to support with project delivery, and our team are always ready to help.

International Assignment Support

For companies looking to engage workers on a contract basis, our International Assignment Support service provides a full onboarding and mobilisation solution. We’ll work with you to understand the contract terms, before processing the relevant travel documents and visa arrangements, setting up a compliant payroll solution and addressing any other requirements to mobilise your workforce and make sure all regulatory compliance is met. We offer this service for a single worker or an entire project team – and we can also assist with flights and accommodation, travel insurance and an interpreter in their native language to make the transition as smooth as possible.

Employer of Record

Where organisations are looking to recruit permanent candidates to join their business in Norway, our Employer of Record solution provides an employment model that allows them to hire and payroll workers in Norway without having to set-up a new business entity. This means that where companies do not already have a legal business entity established overseas, which is both timely and costly, they can still employ permanent workers – with NRL becoming their Employer of Record. This ensures they still receive the same great welcome, care, and support throughout their employment – because we work with our clients to ensure their business values and culture are effectively communicated with their workforce and they feel part of their organisation,

Compliance updates

There are a range of changes expected throughout 2024 due to updates and amendments in Norwegian employment legislation.

Below we’ve compiled everything we have identified in our compliance update.

Driving recruitment industry best practice

We’re long-standing members of the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo), because compliance and industry best practice is vitally important to us.

We’re ISO 9001: 2008 registered for our quality management system and have robust processes in place to ensure all worker and payroll information is handled with the greatest of care.

Security is also important to us, which is why we hold the Cyber Essentials certification for our cyber security protection processes – and we’re committed to meeting GDPR as a registered business with the Information Commissioner’s Office.

To maintain these standards and proactively manage changing legislation, our compliance panel meet regularly. This includes representatives from our international recruitment operations, compliance and payroll teams.
